Donovan Mitchell put the Cleveland Cavaliers on his back in Monday’s 114-98 win over the Orlando Magic.
The nine-year NBA veteran and six-time All-Star scored a game-high 45 points on 15-of-25 shooting, including 5-of-8 from three-point range, continuing a torrid pace since the start of the new year.
Per Stathead since Jan. 1, only Luka Doncic has more 30-point games (nine) than Mitchell (seven), who is tied with reigning MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. Overall, his 25 games with at least 30 points this season are the league’s third most, only behind Doncic and Gilgeous-Alexander.
Mitchell had 26 at halftime, ending the first 24 minutes of action with a beautiful jump shot at the buzzer to give the Cavaliers a five-point lead.
